Every day, CISOs face a major challenge: protecting data across their entire IT infrastructure – despite the constant challenges posed by the digital world and the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats.
In this article, we invite you to explore, alongside a major publishing group, the complexities of cybersecurity, where every decision can impact the protection of valuable literary information. The collaboration between this publishing group and OGO Security symbolizes a shared quest: to build an impenetrable digital fortress. This ambition is being realized through the implementation of an innovative and automated Web Application Firewall (WAF) system.
Discover how this strategic alliance addresses the unique challenges of the publishing industry, where data protection is not only a technical necessity but also a responsibility toward millions of readers. Join us on this journey – which is yours as well – because today, every click counts, and information security is everyone’s business.
What are the main challenges of your role as CISO, and how are you approaching the overhaul of the information system (IS)?
“As the group’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), my primary mission is to ensure the multidimensional security of our information system. We are currently in the midst of a very important phase: the complete overhaul of our IS. This process is complex and involves many different aspects, including updating security protocols, integrating innovative solutions, and managing the risks associated with digital transformation.”
Information system security in large organizations is an ongoing and multifaceted challenge. In the current context of digital transformation, the overhaul of information systems presents both an opportunity and a risk. CISOs are at the forefront of this evolution, not only to protect data and infrastructure but also to ensure that new technologies and processes comply with applicable regulations, such as the GDPR.
The complexity of this task cannot be underestimated. It requires strategic planning, a deep understanding of emerging technologies, and close collaboration with all stakeholders. At the same time, the overhaul of an publishing company’s IT system underscores the importance of protecting copyrights and intellectual property, which are at the heart of the business. Thus, the CISO’s mission extends far beyond technical aspects to encompass ethical and legal considerations, reflecting the complexity and vital importance of their role in today’s digital age.
Why did you choose to partner with OGO Security for your web security project?
“The decision to work with OGO Security stemmed from the urgent need to strengthen the security of our web platforms, particularly through the implementation of a robust and reliable Web Application Firewall (WAF). Given the rise in cyber risks, protecting our websites has become a top priority.
Historically, WAF solutions have been costly in terms of both initial investment and day-to-day management, posing a significant challenge for our team. What sets OGO apart is its “self-managed” model, which minimizes the technical involvement required and significantly reduces the workload on our teams.
This choice has proven to be a sound balance between effectiveness and cost management, although the price of the service remains a key concern. We chose OGO after evaluating standard alternatives on the market, which, despite their effectiveness, came with prohibitive complexity and cost.”
The approach taken in selecting OGO Security reflects a strategy that is mindful of the economic and operational realities of modern businesses. The choice of a self-managed WAF like OGO’s illustrates a growing trend toward cybersecurity solutions that combine autonomy, efficiency, and ease of management. This choice reflects a commitment to striking a balance between the need for robust security and the imperative to reduce operational burdens and costs.
However, this decision also highlights a common dilemma for many organizations: the trade-off between the cost of advanced security solutions and their accessibility. In a landscape where cyber threats are constantly evolving, it is essential for companies to view security not as an expense, but as an investment in their business continuity. Furthermore, the mention of high pricing – even for self-managed solutions – underscores the importance for cybersecurity providers to rethink their business models to make them more accessible, while maintaining an optimal level of service and protection.
Can you describe the benefits and results observed following the use of the OGO security solution?
“To date, it is difficult to accurately assess the limits of the solution’s effectiveness without knowing the details and intensity of the attacks it has thwarted. In any case, sites protected by OGO have held up well so far, which indicates the solution’s robust performance over time.”
IT security – particularly in a corporate context such as that of a publishing group – is not an area where one can afford to fly by the seat of one’s pants. Protection against cyberattacks must be both proactive and reactive, capable of adapting to new and evolving threats.
Which features of the OGO Security solution do you find most beneficial?
“The main strength of the OGO Security solution lies in its near-total autonomy, a significant advantage in the field of cybersecurity, where ease of use and technical autonomy are valuable assets. This self-management capability significantly reduces the daily workload and the need for specialized technical skills, resulting in substantial time and cost savings for businesses.”
Ease of management and autonomy are now decisive factors in businesses’ technology choices. The OGO Security solution, with its nearly entirely self-managed approach, represents a notable advancement, significantly reducing the daily management burden – a valuable resource in operational contexts where resources are often limited. This approach allows companies to focus on their core business activities while maintaining a high level of IT security.
If you had to summarize your experience with OGO Security, what would you say?
“The solution offered by OGO stands out as a self-managed WAF, saving a considerable amount of time.”
